Karchi

The largest city of Pakistan
Karachi is the capital of the province of Sindh, and the largest city in Pakistan. Located on the coast of the Arabian Sea, north-west of the Indus River Delta, the mega city is the largest city, original capital and cultural, economical, philanthropic, educational, and political hub, as well as the largest port, of the country.



Population of  Karachi is 9.339 million in 1998. The metropolitan area along with its suburbs comprises the world's second most populated city, spread over 3,530 square kilometers. 



It is locally termed as the City of Lights for its liveliness and the City of The Quaid, for not only being both the birth and death place of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah the founder of Pakistan but also his home after 1947.

History
The area of Karachi was known to the ancient Greeks by many names: Krokola, the place where Alexander the Great camped to prepare a fleet for Babylonia after his campaign in the Indus Valley; 'Morontobara' (probably Manora island near Karachi harbour), from whence Alexander's admiral Nearchus set sail; and Barbarikon, a port of the Bactrian kingdom. It was later known to the Arabs as Debal from where Muhammad bin Qasim led his conquering force into South Asia in 712 AD.



Karachi is the financial and commercial capital of Pakistan. In line with its status as a major port and the country largest metropolis.



Karachi is also the beautiful city of Pakistan, and the best city for tourism, culture and art of Pakistan
